E-readers- compare and contrast link

Hi All!

The link below offers a great comparison of a bunch of e-readers currently on the market. It will help you answer any questions you or your patrons might have about them. Please bear in mind that the Amazon Kindle is listed in this link and that they are not compatible with our downloadable e-books.

OverDrive Media Console iphone app

For those you and for your patrons who have been having trouble with the new OverDrive Media Console for i-Phone app that supports e-books:

If you have downloaded an e-book directly to this app and its library remains empty, there two things you can do to solve it.

-First, turn off and then restart your device. Once the device is loaded, tap on the OverDrive app once again. That should fix the problem and your book(s) should be visable.

-The other option (use only if the first option does not work) is to uninstall the app and then reinstall it again. Once this is done, check out your e-books again.

If you have any further questions, send me an email at vtaudiobooks@gmail.com

Listen Up! Vermont hands on training

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I will be doing a hands-on introductory training on OverDrive at the Hartland Public Library on Thursday, December 30 at 9 AM. (This is not in place of OverDrive's training which is highly recommended for all staff of participating libraries.) I will be covering the download process for both e-books and audiobooks on the library's projector screen in the community room and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please let me know if you can attend, and if you can think of any questions or topics you would like to see covered that would be great as I will have more time to research them. Please bear in mind that there is space for about 10 people so first come first serve!

Resetting Downloads

Recently, I was asked if the procedure for resetting audiobook and e-book downloads were the same. I have been in contact with overdrive about this, and it is indeed the same. If you need to refresh your memory, you simply login to Content Reserve, and go to the "Support" tab. Scroll down to where it says "Reactivation of Download Links" and click on one the "Link Reactivation Links".

With the arrival of e-books on the scene, patrons may be confused about what they are downloading. If you are showing your patrons the download process, please make sure that they ALWAYS watch the icons on audiobooks to be sure its compatible with their device, and explain to them the basic difference between audiobooks and e-books. If they understand it from the get go, it makes for less work for us down the road.

If you have any questions about this or seem to be having problems, send me a email: vtaudiobooks@gmail.com
