Hi everyone!
I wanted to let you know that there is new service through Overdrive that we are offering called LEAP. This program is designed to give e-book access to folks with print disabilities. OverDrive is funding LEAP to qualifying patrons at no cost to us and at no cost to patrons for one year. Qualified patrons can download up to 20 accessible e-books each month for the next year. How does it work? From Overdrive's FAQ sheet, the following is stated:
Patrons with LEAP memberships receive a user
account at Bookshare. Bookshare hosts more than
70,000 digital books, textbooks, newspapers, and
magazines — available in DAISY and BRF formats. These
can be used with a variety of accessible devices and
free desktop software. The Bookshare catalog is growing
each month, accumulating thousands of new titles.
Please note that it is not the identical collection of eBooks
that OverDrive supplies to your library.
I will be including some more information direct from Overdrive on this soon, all of which will be found on the widget.

Welcome to the Listen Up! Vermont blog for library staff, volunteers, and trustees, and interested users. This is a project of the Green Mountain Library Consortium (www.gmlc.wordpress.com), a group of libraries joining together to provide downloadable audiobooks and eBooks, a shared integrated library system (VOKAL-Koha), and the language-learning program, Mango, to users around Vermont. Looking for the Listen Up! Vermont site to download digital content? Visit www.listenupvermont.org.

ANNUAL MEETING TOMORROW!
Just another quick reminder that the GMLC annual meeting will be held at the Vermont Library Conference tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24th at 1:00 PM in McCarthy Auditorium.
On the printed conference program you will see listed that the Public Libraries Section Meeting is scheduled then, but be assured the GMLC meeting will take place in that slot.
There are great door prizes to win, GMLC updates and some things to think about for our future. Hope to see you there!
Apologies for any cross postings. MD

710-Early Return Error
I've received a couple of questions recently about the error code "710- Early Return Error" and I wanted to clarify what it means. This error results when a patron has tried to return too many e-books in too short of a period early through adobe digital editions. The best thing to do in this situation is to have your patron wait a couple of days before returning any more items. If they do this, the error should go away. If you have any question regarding this error, feel free to contact me at vtaudiobooksgmail.com\
